Do I need to apply for HDB renovation permit to paint my house?
Occasionally, we get clients who will ask if they need to apply for HDB renovation permit to paint their home. The general answer is No, you don’t have to apply for permit to paint your HDB, the interior of you home. However, do note that painting of area outside your HDB home is not permitted.
Painting of HDB home will be considered under building works – Wall finishes. Below we have listed down the type of building works and if permit is required.

The thickness of the wall finishes used must not exceed 13mm

Surface of RC wall is not allowed to be hacked to form key for tiling
Spatterdash or other equivalent shall be used to form key for tiling

Replacement of existing bathroom/ toilet wall finishes after first 3 years from the date of completion of the block
